ABOUT ME

About the Author

Denise Parkin

I am an author who does not limit herself to just one genre. Storytelling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began creating stories in my mind when I was eight years old. At first, they lived only in my imagination, but by junior high school in the 1960s, I was writing short stories inspired by famous figures and weaving my friends into the narratives.

During high school, my writing became more political and reflective of the times. However, I did not become truly serious about writing until my second time in college, when I was fortunate to study under a wonderful creative writing instructor, Ana Castillo. With her guidance, I learned how to move past writer’s block and develop my first book, The Project.

Since then, I have written eight more books, exploring a variety of themes and genres. One of those works took a much darker turn than the others and challenged me in new ways as a writer.

I am currently working on my autobiography, a project that required rethinking and restructuring before it truly began to take shape. Once it is fully organized, I look forward to completing and refining it.

Writing has been a lifelong journey for me, shaped by curiosity, reflection, and a deep respect for the power of story.
